Custom vocabulary helps NoteCat understand the names, acronyms, and product terms your server uses.

Add Vocabulary Words

  1. Open the dashboard and select your server
  2. Go to Settings → Custom Vocabulary
  3. Add words or phrases you want NoteCat to favor
  4. Click Save Changes

How Vocabulary Words Work

Vocabulary words are hints for the transcription engine. When a word or phrase appears in audio, NoteCat will bias the transcript toward the spelling you provide.

  • Helps with names, acronyms, product terms, and inside jokes
  • Applies during transcription, so it can improve live transcripts too
  • Matches are case-insensitive and based on sound, not exact text

Example: adding KubeCon, Notecat, or PNPM makes those spellings more likely to appear in the transcript.

Add Replacements

Replacements apply after transcription and are case-insensitive.

  1. Enter the Replace and With values
  2. Click Add Replacement
  3. Click Save Changes

How Replacements Work

Replacements are deterministic text swaps applied after transcription is finished. If the transcript contains the Replace text, NoteCat swaps it to the With text.

  • Useful for standardizing formatting or fixing consistent errors
  • Applies to the final transcript, summary, and exports
  • Use exact phrases when you want precise changes

Example: replace gpt-4o with GPT-4o, or replace note cat with NoteCat.

Tips

  • Keep the list focused on the terms that matter most
  • Use replacements for consistent spelling (for example, product names or acronyms)
